ABSTRACT

Communication technologies, transform the world into work and connect the employee to work at all times in the context of working life. Devices that improve communication between people, connect them to the world and transform the world, on the other hand, connect the employee to work. Human beings have also become objectified and can be controlled and surveilled remotely. Surveillance has now become fluid. Thus, business life is turning into a situation that occupies the whole life with the surveillance opportunity provided by new technologies. The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes of employees towards surveillance and their methods of coping with surveillance in today’s corporate working life. Within the scope of the study, the attitudes of employees towards surveillance in corporate working life were examined. Through in-depth interviews, the answers to questions such as to what extent employees are sensitive about their personal areas, whether they are aware of surveillance, if they are aware of it, what kind of behaviour they develop against it, the rate of voluntary participation in surveillance or counter-surveillance, etc. were investigated. The research is focused on white-collar employees in corporate working life who use informatics intensively in their working life. In this way, the scope was narrowed and the coping attitudes towards surveillance were analysed in the most conscious segment of working life.

ÖZ

İletişim teknolojileri, dünyayı işe dönüştürmekte, çalışma hayatı bağlamında çalışanı her an işle bağlantılı hale getirmektedir. İnsanlar arasında iletişimi geliştiren, onları dünyaya bağlayan, dünyayı dönüştüren cihazlar, diğer taraftan çalışanı işe bağlamaktadır. İnsan da nesneleşerek uzaktan kontrol edilebilir ve gözetlenebilir bir duruma gelmiştir. Artık gözetim akışkan hale gelmiştir. Böylece iş hayatı, yeni teknolojilerin sağladığı gözetim imkanıyla bütün hayatı işgal eder bir vaziyete dönüşmektedir. Bu çalışmadaki amaç, günümüz kurumsal çalışma hayatında, çalışanların gözetime karşı olan tutumlarını ve gözetimle baş etme metotlarını araştırmaktır. Çalışma kapsamında, kurumsal çalışma hayatında çalışanların gözetime karşı tutumları incelenmiştir. Derinlemesine mülakat yoluyla çalışanların kişisel alanlarına ait hassasiyetlerinin ne oranda olduğu, gözetimin farkında olup olmadıkları, eğer farkındalarsa buna karşı nasıl bir davranış geliştirdikleri, gözetime gönüllü katılımın veya karşıt gözetimin hangi oranda olduğu vb. soruların cevapları araştırılmıştır. Araştırma çalışma hayatı içerisinde bilişimi yoğun olarak kullanan kurumsal çalışma hayatındaki beyaz yakalı çalışanlar üzerine olmuştur. Bu şekilde kapsam daraltılarak çalışma hayatının en bilinçli kesiminde, gözetime karşı baş etme tutumlarının analizi yapılmıştır.
